What Is Proposed?
Persimmon intends to submit an outline planning application to Bury Council for residential development at Land West of High Street.
The application will seek approval for up to 250 new homes.
The Illustrative Masterplan depicts how the Site could be laid out.
The key elements of the proposal are as follows:
6.3ha of land developed for new homes, and 5.3 ha for open space, and landscaping
Up to 250 new homes to positively contribute towards meeting local housing need
At least 40% affordable homes, accessible to local people in housing need
A mix of housing tenures to suit different households
Retention of existing vegetation across the Site
Significant open areas
Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems in the form of attenuation ponds, to ensure that there is no risk of flooding to the development or the neighbouring area
Children’s play areas in several focal points across the Site
A network of pedestrian and cycle routes to link into the active travel network
Vehicular and pedestrian access from High Street
Economic benefits such as the creation of jobs in construction and the wider supply chain, increased household spending in the local area, and attracting economically active people to the area.
